The above is a comprehensive, detailed tech pack from Hook and Eye UK. A professional tech Pack is what you need to instruct your manufacturer on what you want, to minimise mistakes and avoid unclear instructions that result in unnecessary costs. You will need a professional to help you build a detailed, full-tech pack. A service such as a Tech pack and design session by Hook and Eye UK can assist you in this process. However, before that, you can start preparing for your tech pack session; this will help you save time during your session and ensure a smooth delivery, so you won't need to pay extra for overtime. This quick guide will show you how to start from scratch and prepare to build a professional tech pack in your tech pack and design session.
Below is our tech pack prep template to draft up your design and ideas.

Here is the breakdown of each section in the Tech Pack Prep template. (Download the template here)
Brand name: Your brand name.
Style name: Your style name, such as 'Hoody', 'Leggings', Socks', etc.
Gender: (Men's/Women's/Unisex/Childrenswear)
Season: (S/S(spring/summer), A/W (autumn/winter))
Garment reference: an image/photo similar to the style you want.
Details: a close-up view of details you want to use in your design. For example, a close-up view of a crossover waistband, a cut-and-sewn shape, or some fancy seams on the garment that are difficult to see or describe.
Logo/Branding: Your logo/branding, possibly accompanied by a photo of a print method; for example, you may want a raised print for your logo/branding, add an image with a similar effect.
Fabrics: Use a HD image of the fabric you want to use, as high-definition as possible. If you have actual swatches or garments, take a clear photo or scan of the fabric and add it to the sheet.
Colourways: You can fill in the number of colourways you want for the style. Remember to consider the appearance of your overall colour palette.
(See below an example of a hoody in 3 colourways.)

Final thought
If you prepare all the information above (as shown in the example), it will help your designer massively understand your vision and communicate your ideas to them more effectively. Always remember, “A picture is worth a thousand words in the fashion industry.” It’s much easier to communicate ideas through imagery or photos, which helps avoid confusion and ambiguity. Bringing inspirational imagery to your manufacturer is a great starting point.
I hope you find this helpful. You can download the template for free in Adobe Illustrator, PNG, SVG, or PDF format. Alternatively, you can print it out and start attaching images and fabrics to explore different ideas.
